Sisters on the Ground, by Max Posner, is about 6 sisters in 1825 Massachusetts, reeling from the death of their oldest sister and exploring grief, God, marriage, and finding meaning in the future.
I played Hannah, the middle sister who is the most religious and the most enthusiastic about life. It was so lovely to explore a character who brings unrestrained joy and enthusiasm to everything she does.
Before her marriage, Hannah “bundles” (an 1800s custom where an engaged couple are wrapped in cloth to keep them from touching each other) and the greatest joy of this production for me was hopping across the stage in my burlap sack. It was a wonderful gift to explore so much physical comedy with this part. Thank you so much to Lauren and everyone else involved!
